Trade fair highlight 11. September 2026
Servo-electric unscrewing unit
SLU: Two axes. One process.
Servo-electric linear unscrewing unit, premiere at Fakuma 2026
When demolding threads and helical internal contours, the core has to rotate and move linearly at the same time, exactly in the ratio of the thread pitch. Until now, this has been solved mechanically with a lead screw or with two separate drives. The SLU couples both axes electronically via a master-slave control and runs the unscrewing motion and the linear slide motion in sync.
Your benefits:
– Flexible demolding profiles through independently controllable rotary and linear motion
– Thread pitch adjustable via software through a single parameter in the control unit, with no gearbox or lead screw
– Low maintenance through a lead-nut-free drive, no lubrication points on nut or spindle
– Safe restart after a power failure through an absolute encoder that retains the home position
– Stable cycle times through fully integrated slide and core cooling
– Process-safe under injection pressure through mechanical locking of the slide
– Ideal for cleanroom environments, with no hydraulic oil and no leakage points
The SLU combines the strengths of our unscrewing units with those of the linear core pulling series. Target applications are drug delivery devices such as auto-injectors and pens, as well as high-cavity molds.
At Fakuma, we are showing the SLU for the first time as a functional model, together with our Servo MoldControl control unit. See live how both axes run in the ratio of the thread pitch and how the demolding profile can be adjusted directly at the control unit.
Trade show highlight in the Fakuma Forum: On Wednesday, 14 October, 11:00 a.m., our CSO Richard Gane will speak about servo-electric motion in the injection mold. And about what the toolmaker gains from it.
